UCSF Spine Symposium

This two-day course is designed for neurosurgeons, orthopedists, nurses, physical therapists, physiatrists, anesthesiologists, and pain specialists, as well as primary care providers. It explores a wide territory of topics from diagnosis through treatment and recovery.

 

Themes include pain control, physiatry and rehabilitation, non-operative treatment strategies, surgery, imaging, and broad health system issues. In addition to talks by UCSF faculty, there are several guest lectures from experts in the spine field. All lectures are followed by case discussions aimed at highlighting key issues in breakthrough treatments.

Neurosurgery Update

This two-day course is an update on all topics in neurosurgery, including neurospinal disorders. The 2019 course includes topics on minimally invasive procedures, predictive models of outcome following spine surgery, anterior cervical fusion, and lumbar alignment restoration techniques, among others.

UCSF Spinal Surgery Lab

This course is directed towards residents, fellows and spine surgeons to teach them advanced techniques for complex spinal disorders. Participants will review and practice surgical principles in the treatment of adult spinal deformities and tumors in a hands-on bioskills lab. The course is taught by neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons and also includes interactive lectures and case presentations to hone decision-making skills.

UCSF Pediatric and Adult Spine Course

This is a three-and-a-half-day event emphasizing pioneering trends in pediatric and adult spinal surgery. This course includes didactic lectures given by leaders in the spine community as well as a hands-on bioskills lab. Participants will review and practice surgical principles and techniques in the treatment of complex spinal disorders. Expert lecturers will describe the recent advances in treatment for a variety of disorders. Interactive case presentations will allow learners to apply knowledge to improve decision making for complex spine pathology.
